Helen Carolyn Woods was born on December 4, 1952. On September 27, 2023, she gained her wings as she transitioned. She was the youngest child born from the union of George E Harris and Bertha A Harris in Leland MS. Raised in Detroit, Michigan, Helen attended Martin Lurther King (Eastern) High School, Job Corps of America and Wayne State Community College. She worked with the City of Detroit until her retirement in 1999. In 1984, she met her long-time love, Theodore Woods in Detroit, Michigan and on July 1, 2000, they joined as one under God Covenant of Marriage.
Helen is survived by her loving husband, Theodore Woods, Olive Branch, Mississippi; Her sister, Hazel Jean Harris of Detroit, Michigan and her brother, Richard E Harris of Allen, Texas; Her daughters, LaShaundra “Shaun” Hall (Gregory Hall) of Henderson, Nevada and LaChoya “Tweety” Thompson (Ervin Thompson) of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Her beloved grandchildren, Daynice Cochran, Dayanni Cochran, Jordan Thompson, Dayla Cochran-Ayers (Alex Ayers) and Justin Thompson; Her cherished great grandchildren. Kendall Cochran, Jaycion Thompson, Jeremy “Deuce” Rives, Naiomi Thompson and Blair Ayers; Her step-daughter, Shirley James; Her step-grandchildren, Antonio James, Orlando James, Santana James and Dennis James; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Helen accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age and was a faithful praying woman. She loved her family and was always a call away. She loved to celebrate and cook for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bertha Harris, Her siblings, Christean Young, Juanita Murry, Martha Wade, Bertha Adkins, Henry Harris and George E. Harris Jr.
